Chocolate Showpiece Chocolate showpieces like this antique fire engine may easily be reproduced by modifying plans for wooden toys and creating your own patterns that will work with chocolate. This showpiece is made primarily from modeling chocolate. In the interest of time a chocolate mold was cast in silicon for the wheels, the remaining details were formed by hand. The fire truck rests on a riser of chocolate under the center of it and supports a frame cut from poured chocolate. To this frame is what all the other pieces are attached to. Details like the fenders are cut from modeling chocolate and while still soft laid directly on the drawing to form the required shape and allowed to dry and then attached to the frame. Centerpieces may last sometimes for years; given new life with a repair or two and a fresh coat of chocolate. This one however met its demise during a Bat Mitzvah dessert buffet. Using this method it is easy to make one again or others such as antique cars and trucks.
