Blown Sugar Fruit Basket Pulled and blown sugar are both used here to recreate the contents of a fruit basket. The pulled sugar is first woven around a wire form. When cool, the wire is removed and replace with pulled sugar. The basket is then filled with blown sugar fruit that has been finished with brushed and airbrushed food color. The pineapple is individual pieces of pulled sugar covering a blown sugar base. Pulled sugar fruit baskets seem to elicit comment from people. I have heard suggestions ranging from the Freudian interpretation of fruit; to "Hey, nice buffet, but that plastic fruit looks really tacky!" So consequently not many of these were ever produced.
